pixart.it Commissions Fifth and Sixth HP Indigo 7000 Digital Presses Ordered at drupa 2008

MILAN, Italy, 17 June 2009 - HP announced today that pixart.it, of Marghera and Mestre, has installed the fifth and sixth HP Indigo 7000 Digital Presses ordered at drupa 2008.

The first four HP Indigo 7000 Digital Presses were installed in October 2008, adding to the company's digital capabilities that include an HP Indigo press 3050 and an HP Indigo press 5000. The new presses significantly increase pixart.it's digital printing capacity. With each of the six HP Indigo 7000 Digital Presses able to print 800,000 A4 colour pages per month (single shift), pixart.it has the potential to print more than 12 million colour pages per month with its current two-shift operation.

Carrying out work for customers across Europe, pixart.it's work comes mostly from agencies and other print service providers, for which it acts as their digital printing division. The company's work is primarily commercial and includes catalogues, brochures, leaflets and labels. The combination of its digital presses and in-house finishing lines mean that jobs can be turned around within 24 - 48 hours. pixart.it also has a wide-format capability that makes it possible to satisfy most of its customer's print requirements.

"The HP Indigo 7000 Digital Press can print 120 A4 colour pages per minute, which raises the 'crossover point'. This means that printing digital is cost-effective for more jobs, while cost per page is reduced," said Matteo Rigamonti, CEO, pixart.it. "The higher crossover makes it possible to attract more jobs that would have previously been printed conventionally, while the higher speeds mean that we can run more jobs on each shift."

With the trend for falling run lengths, and the ability for customers to print only what they need, when they need it, the power that the HP Indigo 7000 Digital Press gives print service providers means they can be more competitive and more profitable while delivering an affordable, high-quality service.

"The addition of these new presses has transformed the company," said Rigamonti. "We took a decision back in 2000 to become a digital and e-commerce print service provider, which was a major step for us. These HP Indigo 7000 Digital Presses weren't even dreamt of then, but digital technology has enabled both the presses and the market to grow very, very fast. The bottom line for the customer is still quality and service at an acceptable price, and with these presses we will be able to meet those expectations for the foreseeable future."

With its international reputation for investing in innovative printing technology, in June 2009, a group of Print Service Providers (PSPs) from Latin America visited the company to investigate pixart.it's ground breaking solutions for web-to-print applications. The group was hosted by Matteo Rigamonti as part of a European digital printing tour that included visits to another Italian company and German printing companies.
