Concept Communications Group Installs HP Indigo 7000 Digital Press to Develop Services

Web-to-print and image variable direct mail among target applications

LONDON, England, 22 September 2009 - HP today announced that Concept Communications Group (CCG), of Bishops Stortford, Hertfordshire, has installed an HP Indigo 7000 Digital Press to expand its existing digital capabilities and bolster its variable data printing capacity.

CCG specialises in variable data print (VDP) and web-to-print marketing solutions ranging from traditional static reports to complex direct marketing campaigns with sophisticated variable data products. With many direct mail packs requiring both digitally and conventionally printed components, print quality and substrate compatibility was an important factor in the company's choice of the HP Indigo 7000 Digital Press.

An HP Indigo press user since 2003 when it installed an HP Indigo press 3000, and later an HP Indigo press 5000, CCG has the expertise to bring conventional and digital technologies together to produce cost-effective, highly personalised communications. The new press integrates into a web-to-print solution, driven by the HP SmartStream IN200 Production Pro Print Server, large volumes of variable data can be handled and printed at speeds up to 120 full colour A4 pages per minute (800,000 page per month, single shift). Using CCG's "Uprint" web-to-print solution and "Uquote" quoting system, customers can order jobs and review progress 24-hours a day from anywhere in the world. With a client base that includes agencies, design groups, blue chip companies and financial services providers; this provision is not only an important service but a key differentiator for CCG.

"Increasingly we are challenged to find new a creative ways to use variable data printing to drive complex campaigns," said Paul Hale, sales director, CCG. "To meet this challenge we have developed a dynamic environment where creative design meets data processing - the ying and yang of VDP."

CCG has a full range of in-line and near-line finishing equipment that enables it to fulfil jobs in-house and have complete production and quality control over its jobs. The company is also environmentally minded and has certification for both FSC Chain of Custody and ISO 14001. This concern is also reflected in its attitude to digital printing, where only what is needed is printed and there is no start-up waste. Additionally, the HP Indigo 7000 Digital Press has longer-life consumables, uses less power than earlier press models, and has an on-board image oil recycling system.

"Because we understand data, understand creative design and understand the strengths and weaknesses of VDP technology, we are able to employ innovative ideas, yet keep our feet on the ground when helping our customers navigate this technology maze," said Hale. "We chose the HP Indigo 7000 Digital Press based on our experience of earlier presses. HP's market recognition, the quality of print, customer service and press uptime were all factors in our decision."
